Many people don't realised difference between religion and Buddhism. Because Buddha wasn't God. He was just ordinary human being like you.
So anyone can become like Buddha. But not many people realised it. Because many people even Buddhists (even Buddhist monks) think that Buddha, Bodhisattva and Arhat are some kind of super-human-being like God.
